A Full Day of Music for a Powderham Castle wedding

Saturday took me to one of Devon’s most iconic wedding venues – Powderham Castle – for a full day of music and hosting. From the first guitar note before the ceremony to the last track on the disco, I was involved in every part of the day.

I started the day with acoustic guitar instrumentals before the ceremony, setting a calm background while guests found their seats. The couple’s chosen songs for the ceremony were performed live – always a personal highlight, because those few minutes are what everyone remembers.

From there, I moved straight into the drinks reception, keeping the energy light with upbeat covers while people mingled on the castle grounds. Later on, I set up a microphone for speeches, making sure everyone could be heard clearly – nothing worse than a best man’s story lost in the back of the room.

Behind the scenes, I coordinated with Sarah, the Powderham wedding planner, to make sure timings stayed on track. (ok, thaey went slightly wayward but we handled it just fine) I also handled logistics for the  band’s arrival and set up. By the time the castle had transformed for the evening, it was our turn to take the stage again – first with 2 live evening sets and then taking on DJ duties to keep the dance floor full until finish

It was one of those days where I covered all aspects – guitarist, singer, sound engineer, music coordinator, and DJ – all under one roof. Powderham is a spectacular venue, and working alongside their team to deliver a smooth, music-filled day was a real pleasure.

I’ll drop the Instagram reel link I made from the day below so you can get a feel for it.
